I thought it was uber-cool when i first saw it on the internet and decided that i had to do it sooner or later .. Well, after the moscow trip i finally had one roll of slide-film crossed.
Looking at the results, i must say i kind of like the cross-process-thing in some of the shots, in others i think it just looks stupid and artsey and i'm asking myself whether it's something that one really shouldn't do one's poor slides, because it changes real color so much.
Then again, "real color", wtf? There is no real color in films or slides anyway.
I mean, each type of film gives colors totally different from all the others ... who is to say "this is truth" / "this isn't".
Apart from that - b&w is like THE most brutal possible change to "reality", i mean, reducing colors to black and white is like the harshest thing you can do to then. Still, it's the normal thing to do.
So I'm wondering about why cross-processing and thereby abstracting from reality feels weird while reducing colors to grey-scales feels just fine.
Thoughts on the topic, anyone?

Since I love shooting (spontaneous) portraits the most I don't think crossing suits what I do. And besides that I got kinda bored of it, it's a nice trick when you start with it, but it bores (me). It gets kinda gimmicky after while, catch my drift?
und im endeffekt ist es eh egal, ich bevorzug s/w, weil das herumscheißen mit farbe mir wirklich zu anstrengend ist.

like, she said that she thought that when you have a picture that is good for some nice facial expression or something, it will work in "normal" color or black and white, but it maybe won't work crossed because everybody only sees the flashy colors.
she's a clever girl.
